I wake to the sound of raindrops tapping softly against the window. From above, Tokyo still lingered in a dream.
A distant blur, geometry woven from light, a city in constant motion, its edges lost in haze.
Since childhood, I'd looked upon that view with longing. But raindrops eventually fall-gently leaving the sky, coming to rest upon the ground.

And so too did my gaze descend, from above to within the streets.
The Tokyo I came to know wasn't quite the one I had imagined.
It was more mechanical, more chaotic, lonelier, colder at times.
Yet still, I was drawn to it-unable to set my camera down.
I kept believing that somewhere, fragments of that dream must still remain.
For the past ten years, I've searched through photography for the space between dream and reality.
Between glimmering ideals and the grain of real life lies a fleeting kind of truth.
Maybe it's in a soft glance shared at a crosswalk, or a flower blooming quietly in an alley, unnoticed by all.
I've come to feel that it's in this in-between where the soul of the city lives— not perfect, but undeniably, deeply beautiful.

At the threshold of dream and waking, the world seemed just a little softer.
Here, there is a certain now, where people live, love, and move forward.
And now, I can say this with quiet certainty:
Waking from the dream isn't so bad after all.

TOKIO E IO IN TRANCE:

…I thought I knew you but was all fruit of an unilateral admiration. But this is just simple ignorance or pursue of true love? The question remains open…
Tomas is a photographer with Japanese roots, born and raised in Buenos Aires Argentina. Currently he is based in Tokyo, capital of Japan, where he observes and records the street through the lenses of his camera as daily activity. Partly because his instinct calls himself to do so, partly to seek a representation of his life long curiosity. What is Tokyo?
Tokyo is a city to contemplate coexisting contrasts. Contrasts between the past and the future, the occident and the orient, the chaos and the harmony, dreamy expectation and reality...all of them sharing one common present, which's form is kept in an extremely complex and continuously evolutive balance.
So, What is Tokyo? How do people describe it? How do you describe it? I invite you, dear visitor, to reflect and explore together through what I have been observing and recording.
